Lost Person Behavior
The Lost Person Behavior Course is a one-day workshop designed to support missing persons search planning for both mission managers and field responders alike. Based on Dr. Robert Koester’s groundbreaking work, the goal of the course is to provide participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to successfully look in the right place, understand lost person behavior, apply statistical tables, identify needed special investigation, and deploy resources into the field. Canine & Feline CPR & First Aid
This course provides an overview on how to manage a life-threatening medical emergency that may occur with dogs and cats. It focuses on how to either try to keep the animal alive or prevent its condition from getting worse prior to arriving at a veterinary facility. This class is perfect for anyone who loves animals including animal professionals, obedience trainers, kennel staff, pet retailers, pet sitters, animal shelter staff/volunteers, rescue personnel, groomers, First Responders, and pet owners. The curriculum is developed by licensed veterinary professionals using veterinary industry standard methods of emergency medical care. Upon successful completion, participants will earn a Canine & Feline CPR First Aid (PetCPR+) Certification, valid for two years. Contact us to host a class. Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, sudden illnesses, head/neck/back injuries, heat and cold emergencies, and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). It is designed for those who need a certification that satisfies OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements. Hug-A-Tree and Survive
The Hug-A-Tree and Survive program is designed to teach children ages 5-12 how to keep from getting lost, what to do if they become lost, how to stay warm and dry, and how they can help searchers to find them. Inspired by the search for nine-year-old Jimmy Beveridge in 1981 in southern California, the Hug-A-Tree and Survive program teaches children how to survive in the woods should they become lost. Many children are alive today because of their experience with the Hug-A-Tree and Survive program. Perfect for elementary schools, public libraries, park districts, scouts, and other youth organizations, this class is offered at no cost. K9 Wilderness First Aid
The Canine Wilderness Emergency First Aid course trains individuals who work with dogs and engage in outdoor activities where access to emergency veterinary care may be limited and dogs are more susceptible to injury due to adventurous activities. This is a comprehensive program that focuses on the management of medical emergencies that can happen to your dog in remote areas while hiking, camping, water activities, SAR, hunting, and more. Upon successful completion, participants will earn a Canine Wilderness Emergency First Aid (K9WildAid+) Certification, valid for two years. Contact us to host a class. About the Instructor
Former competitive triathlete and adventure racer, Bill Menker has spent nearly a decade in search & rescue. Originally with Ohio Special Response Team and now with Ohio LandSAR, he is a certified Search & Rescue Technician (SARTECH II) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Also a full-time librarian and part-time blacksmith, Bill teaches classes on a variety of readiness subjects in his spare time.
