Hug-A-Tree & Survive
Teaching kids what to do when they are lost in the wilderness.
NASAR’s Hug-A-Tree and Survive program is designed to teach children ages 5-12 how to keep from getting lost, what to do if they become lost, how to stay warm and dry, and how they can help searchers to find them. Inspired by the search for nine-year-old Jimmy Beveridge in 1981 in southern California, the Hug-A-Tree and Survive program teaches children how to survive in the woods should they become lost. Many children are alive today because of their experience with the Hug-A-Tree and Survive program. Perfect for elementary schools, public libraries, park districts, scouts, and other youth organizations, this class is offered at no cost.
